At Masterplan, we are dedicated to serving a wide variety of clients in their land use and building endeavors. By working on zoning, approvals and building permits in Dallas, TX, we’ve helped thousands of clients make their projects a reality.
One area we are particularly dedicated to is education. We continue to serve schools throughout Dallas and the surrounding areas to get permits and other approvals for renovations, additions and entirely new buildings.
Check out some of the major upcoming projects we have assisted in.
Justin F. Kimball High School Addition
Masterplan worked alongside the Dallas Independent School District (ISD) to obtain approvals from the Dallas City Council for an addition to Justin F. Kimball High School.
The addition will include a new area for administration, a new kitchen and new athletic spaces. Most importantly, the project will create a 14,000 square-foot space for classrooms, effectively removing the portable classrooms the campus is currently using to serve students.
Construction on the Justin F. Kimball High School Addition is anticipated to begin very soon, with an expected completion within 12 to 18 months.
Frankford Middle School Fine Arts Renovation and Addition
Our firm also helped the Plano Independent School District obtain a building permit in Dallas, TX for an amendment to the existing Frankford Middle School on Osage Parkway in Far North Dallas. The project is part of a larger effort, called the Frankford, Rice & Renner Fine Arts Renovation & Addition Project, to renovate three middle schools’ fine arts spaces.
The Frankford Middle School project will involve an approximately 6,200 square-foot addition that will house a separate rehearsal area for band, choir and orchestra and space for other fine arts-related programs.
New L.G. Pinkston High School
One of the biggest and most exciting upcoming educational projects we’ve helped bring to fruition is the construction of the new L.G. Pinkston High School.
Masterplan, in cooperation with the civil engineers at Jacobs, the architecture firm Muñoz & Co. of San Antonio, Dallas ISD and Dallas City Councilmember Omar Narvaez, has obtained a zoning amendment to allow the construction of the new school.
The existing high school was built in 1962. It will be replaced by a new, state-of-the-art facility on the corner of Bickers Street and Greenleaf Street. The three-story building will house performing and visual arts spaces, including an auditorium, a career education center, a youth and family center and a collegiate academy, in addition to core classrooms and labs.
The campus will also include a football/soccer and track practice field, a baseball practice field and a softball practice field, along with an all-weather surface for band practice and an indoor competition gymnasium. The new campus is expected to open in 2021.
