Fall Fun at Federales Tacos and Tequila

May 24, 2021 | Building Permit, Dallas

A new restaurant addition is coming to Deep Ellum located on the southwest corner of Malcom X Boulevard and Commerce Street (2820 Commerce). Federales Tacos and Tequila, originally opened in Chicago, Illinois in 2016, will serve a variety of Tex-Mex foods and feature several art pieces created by local artist Lesli Marshall. The space will also include two retractable skylights and other design elements produced by Studio K Creative that will help cater to the modern, urban style of Deep Ellum, while maintaining original concepts brought over from the Chicago location.

One of the restaurant’s famous traditions involves a tequila shot served in a glass of ice. Once the shot is taken, customers can throw the leftover glass at a large bell hung on the wall to make it ring. This will undoubtedly be an entertaining and popular activity for the restaurant-goers of North Texas.

Masterplan’s very own Wes Hoblit worked on securing a parking reduction through the Board of Adjustment last year, and our permitting team is currently spearheading Federales’ permitting through the City of Dallas. It’s safe to say that we are excited to try this lively new spot (and take aim at the bell) when it opens this fall!
