Provident Realty & Masterplan Win
A Masterplan client since 1986, Provident Realty is now working on a new last mile center for tenant, Amazon. Provident is best known for developing Preston Hollow Village. The land where the center will be developed is currently occupied by two warehouses, but there are 30 acres of land that could be used more actively. Initially, the project was recommended for denial at Plan Commission, but once Masterplan was hired, the zoning passed at City Council.
The last mile center faced scrupulous review from the City, so the project has been through a great deal of revision to best address concerns. A technical review of the landscape was performed, and the numerous requests from City staff were appeased. Regarding the win, Provident Realty President, Jay Hawes said, “Last mile facilities are becoming an increasingly important service. We are excited to move forward on this project and see the impact it will have benefitting the community.” At City Council, an employee for Amazon’s Economic Development team, Jessica Breaux, also shared how proud the company was to have an opportunity to work further with the City of Dallas.
Today, last mile centers are a necessity in large cities like Dallas and it will be developed in a way that complements the area. Located on the south side of West Mockingbird Lane and east of Elmbrook Drive, the center will provide hundreds of quality jobs as well as convenient delivery to everyone nearby from residents to businesses. This project also includes features like pedestrian refuge areas, bus shelters, and even electric vehicle charging stations to appeal to the surrounding community. Masterplan is ecstatic to be a part of such an exciting project!
